About AnthropoVoyage

I believe that cultural patterns are fine membranes, or boundaries as they are called in psychology, that arise from the specific needs and experiences of each community. They enable them to function harmoniously. This site is intended for engaged visitors who want to rethink the boundaries that surround our communities and encourage innovation and social change. All texts respect the respective cultures and their heritage, and want to make them more visible.

AnthropoVoyage speaks with story and drawing. All texts are the result of research work, travel and stay in the communities that are written about, as well as experiences and acquaintances established during that process.

I grew up in a country that was falling apart. Since then I have been searching for stability and coexistence in this world. I am learning about the world and what we can do for it, and for ourselves. Since I didn’t have much opportunity to travel then, I spent days and years poring over atlases, maps and encyclopedias, constantly learning about every culture and every part of the world.

Over time, I became an anthropologist and a political scientist and began to travel. I am passionately interested in the cultural codes left by civilisations before ours, as well as the cultures that exist around us that are not part of the mainstream narrative of the globalising world. I write about them, draw them and talk about them in order to tear them from oblivion and to share their riches with others.

My name is Aleksandar Obradović, and I am your storyteller.
